Live Music at The Palladium

I am a really big fan of music and love live shows. I totally lucked out with Clark because in addition to the shows we host on campus, we have a great live music venue just a mile and half down Main Street. A mile and a half is walking distance for me (but I would not recommend walking back after dark, because every city can be dangerous after dark), or a quick ride from a friend with a car.

The Palladium has been host to some of the greatest bands in recent memory, and I have seen some of my favorite bands ever there. To name a few, I've seen:

Scary Kids Scaring Kids (twice)
Drop Dead, Gorgeous (four times)
Rise Against
Thursday
Thrice
Alkaline Trio
Angels & Airwaves
Four Year Strong (a Worcester native)
Bring Me The Horizon
Pierce the Veil

in addition to heaps of others. 30 Seconds To Mars came a few months ago, and there are some shows already posted for next year that I'm really excited about. In general, the Palladium hosts predominantly rock genre shows, with a lot of post hardcore, metal and pop rock.

The Palladium has two stages: an upstairs and the downstairs. The upstairs, where I usually see shows, is very tiny, which makes it that much better. If you get there early enough, which I am always sure to do, you can be RIGHT in front of the two-and-a-half foot stage. This means the band could be playing literally in your lap!

(PHOTO: I am quite familiar with Danny Stillman from Drop Dead, Gorgeous (a band I've seen four times upstairs at the Palladium), as he's always performing in the front of the crowd.)

All of the bigger bands play downstairs, where I've been very fortunate to see some of my all-time favorites. The downstairs stage isn't that large, and only a few hundred can fit in. But it's all general admission which is the BEST for live shows. The Palladium certainly isn't as pretty or high tech as some of the bigger venues, like the DCU center just down the street from the Palladium, but it has such a great feel. The Palladium has character.
I got really close to Geoff Rickly, from Thursday, during their awesome set downstairs. (I got to meet him afterwards!)
